IN LOVING MEMORY
26 August 1964 — 6 May 2026
Legal practitioner, academic, and champion for justice.
Barr. John Okechukwu Okpara was a man who understood, perhaps better than most, that the law is not merely a profession — it is a calling. He answered that calling with quiet conviction for over six decades, leaving behind a legacy etched into courtrooms, classrooms, and the lives of countless people.
"He believed the law should serve the people. He spent his life proving it could."❧

To the father that stood strong! I am short of words. I don’t even know what to write and I am still in shock. How do I say good bye to you? Daddy, you knew how much it meant to me that you live, we all prayed and hoped for it. You were supposed to see me thrive, I still can’t believe that the day my husband and I visited you and mummy was the last time I would see you. The day I called to give you update on my masters and other things going on, I can’t believe that was the last time I would hear your voice and receive your guidance and advice. Life is somehow ooooo, daddy. Just like that? I am consoled by the man you are, not were. To me , you are here with us. The legacy you built and upheld lives on. I can’t say good bye, I don’t know how to do that, may be with time. For now, I pray that your soul finds rest and that the God you so cherished and honored guides your soul in his light. May God console your adorable family and keep them together in love. Amen.
